Welby Gardens Joins Oglevee NetworkSource: Oglevee/Welby Gardens

Oglevee Ltd., of Connellsville, Pa., has announced the addition of Welby Gardens, of Denver, Colo., as its newest license primary propagator. Welby Gardens joins Oglevee’s network of six greenhouse companies spread across the United States and Canada on producing cuttings of Patriot, Maestro, Candy, Global, Elegance and the PAC lines of geraniums.

Welby replaced Busch Gardens, in Denver Colo., as Oglevee’s primary propagator in the mountain range on May 13, 2004. Busch Gardens will no longer be an Oglevee licensed primary propagator.

By becoming part of the Oglevee group, Welby will offer commercial growers a wide variety of colors and types of zonal, ivy and regal geranium cuttings. The assortment contains 35 varieties of zonal geraniums, 18 varieties of ivy geraniums, 25 varieties of regal geraniums and seven varieties of Stardom Floribunda geraniums.

“Welby was selected as a partner because of their reputation as a high-quality producer,” said Don MacIntyre, president of Oglevee. “The association of Welby and Oglevee is a tremendous match between great genetics and great production capabilities. In addition to Welby’s outstanding production capabilities, we are very pleased with their trucking network.”

Together, the Oglevee network supplies more than 30 million rooted and unrooted geranium cuttings to wholesale growers each year. It is the largest producer of cutting geraniums in North America, with more than 17 acres of greenhouses in several Pennsylvania locations and in McDonough, Ga. In addition to a full line of geraniums, Oglevee also offers New Guinea impatiens, poinsettias, and the Midi and Maxi kalanchoes.
