A breakthrough from the Superbells collection, Superbells Cherry Star offers a totally new color pattern in calibrachoa flowers. The rich pink flowers are split into five sections by bright yellow lines with a yellow eye in each bloom. The stripes are heat stable, so they dont fade out as the season goes by.
Overall, culture is the same as the other Superbells varieties. Cherry Star is a bit more mounding/upright than most of the line, so it is easier to work with in pot-to-pot production scenarios. Plants are well shaped and form a round ball as they mature.
First natural day flowering begins around week 8 and 30 to 50 percent color by week 10 to 12. As will all calibrachoa, Superbells Cherry Star does best when grown under the highest light levels. Regular feeding with a balanced fertilizer between 150 to 250 ppm and maintaining pH levels between 5.5 and 5.8 will give the highest quality crop.
As with all of the Superbells line, Cherry Star has been screened for tolerance of pH shifts, and for resistance to Pythium, Phytophthora and Thielaviopsis.
