More compact than the original Royal series, Royal Prince has the same large flower size and is available in three colors: Bicolor, Neon Violet and Red. They can be used in pots, combination planters and garden beds. Royal Prince gerbera are very floriferous and early to flower.

Sow in a 288 or larger cell tray. Plug finish time is five weeks. When finishing, plant one plant per 4- to 6-inch pot or multiple plugs in larger containers.

Maintain temperature between 70 and 75° F. Recommended EC is 1.0 to 1.2 and recommended pH is 5.8 to 6.3. Plugs are best produced with 16 hours of light.

Too much water or fertilizer can produce deformed young plants. Royal Prince can be grown without PGRs; one application of 0.1 to 0.3 percent B-Nine two to three weeks after transplant is suggested.

Flowering is triggered by light accumulation at the crown of the plant; it is important to transplant to the final pot before the plugs get overgrown and start to cover the growing point. Flower quality will be reduced if plants are allowed to dry out after bud development.
