Have You Picked Your Winners for 2019? By Tim Hodson

As we roll into the first full week of 2019, I am sure you have been busy making all of your production and business plans for this year.

If you still haven’t made you final variety selections for 2019, be sure to check out the article, “Winners Circle,” that appeared in the December issue of GPN.

In that article, Jasmina Dolce compiled a list of award-winning varieties that you might want to consider growing this year.

Selecting the “right” new varieties to grow and market can be a challenge, so each year Jasmina puts together a list of award winners from such organizations as All-America Selections, Fleuroselect, the Perennial Plant Association and the American Hosta Growers Association.

Each of these groups evaluates hundreds of varieties and has their own specific criteria for picking their winners. Color, unique appearance, garden performance and versatility are just some of the traits that make these varieties winners.

So, if you haven’t made your final selections for 2019 yet, click here to find some last minute inspiration.
