2020 is the Year of the Plant
Seed Your Future is an industry organization that is on a mission “to promote horticulture and inspire people to pursue careers working with plants.”
To help meet that goal, the organization is asking people in the industry to take a pledge to make 2020 the Year of the Plant. Not to be confused with the National Garden Bureau’s “Year of” program that promotes specific variety classes, the Year of the Plant campaign is designed to educate those people who don’t know what our industry has to offer.
Seed Your Future “envision(s) a world where everyone understands and values the importance of plants and the people who work in the art, science, technology, and business of horticulture.”
Seed Your Future wants to drive awareness of everything that plants and the horticulture industry have can do to those individuals who are “plant challenged.”
According to the group’s website, “We’re working on turning the plant-challenged around, and inspiring more people to know the wonder and power of plants and the joy of plant careers!”
Seed Your Future has created a list of activities to help you in your efforts to help promote the Year of the Plant (and the power of plants) to people of all ages and walks of life. If you have your own ideas on how to create attention to what the horticulture industry has to offer, you can add them to their list. The social media hashtag for the campaign #YearOfThePlant.
