Served on the floriculture faculty at North Carolina State University and the University of Florida-Milton. Recipient of the U of F’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Teaching Award. Served as co-director of research leadership program that trained 60+ horticultural graduates, worked with 105 commercial growers, studied 65 plant genera and conducted 1,150 trials.

The Roots of the Family Tree: Jamie’s great-grandfather, J.B.s. Norton, was the first plant pathologist for the state of Maryland; he was also a daylily breeder and some of his varieties are growing in the U.S. National Arboretum.
