Managed the restoration of more than 22 woodland acres working with volunteers to plant native plants back into the disturbed sites and managing contractors. Was awarded the Garden Club of America Conservation Commendation. Recipient of NISOD Excellence Award, which recognizes teachers who demonstrate an outstanding commitment and contribution to their students and colleagues.

Going the Distance(s): Kathy completed the Race for the River Kayakalon — a 1.5-mile kayak ride, 15-mile bike ride and 5K run to raise money for the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation.
