Recommended Cultivars By John Dole and Jim Barrett

This is the third year we have evaluated all of the cultivars according to production style. Determining the best cultivar for each grower is reliant on his or her location, production practices and market, and personal preferences. Because of this, our emphasis is focused on the different container sizes and how the cultivars perform in those containers.

There is a multitude of poinsettia cultivars that a grower can choose to grow. In fact, there are probably too many cultivars for any one grower to be familiar with or even think about testing. The recommendations in this article are intended to help you when selecting the cultivars you would like to try in your greenhouse. All of these recommendations are based on university trials and observations of commercial crops.
