The American Floral Endowment (AFE) has announced a $2.5 million fundraising campaign to support Sustainabloom, a sustainability program created for the floral industry. Launched in April 2024, Sustainabloom provides free resources aimed at helping businesses of all sizes implement eco-friendly practices. These resources include guides, assessment tools, and funding opportunities designed by top researchers.

“Sustainability is no longer just a goal — it’s a necessity,” said Debi Chedester, AFE executive director. “With Sustainabloom, we’re providing vital resources to support the industry’s transition to more sustainable practices.”

The fundraising goal will establish an endowment fund to ensure the program’s long-term sustainability. Contributions will support ongoing updates and research, keeping the industry informed on emerging sustainability trends. Recently, Sustainabloom expanded with four new guides, covering topics like energy efficiency and carbon accounting, with more to come.

AFE has been a leader in supporting research and education for the floriculture industry for over 60 years. Contributions to this campaign will help ensure the continued growth and success of Sustainabloom and its resources for greenhouse and horticulture growers.
