First Step Greenhouses Introduces Vegetative Liner ProgramSource: First Step Greenhouses

First Step Greenhouses recently announced its spring 2005 vegetative liner program. The program offers 127 varieties, including Celebration calibrachoas, Cascadia petunias, Harmony New Guinea impatiens and many others. For the 2004/2005 growing season, liners will be available from week 50 in 2004 to week 18 of 2005, with the possibility of more ship weeks being added.

“Our vegetative liners represent some of the best ‘open market’ genetics available,” said Dan Gibson, president of First Step Greenhouses. “After conducting trials this spring we feel confident that we are supplying quality genetics grown in an excellent environment.”

First Step offers liners in a 50-tray strip, which is easily compared to a 105-tray. At half the size of a standard tray, the 50-tray strip allows customers to purchase smaller quantities per variety without paying for a larger liner. With eight strips to a box, customers can mix and match up to eight varieties per box. This system works well for smaller growers who want to grow combination plants without having to purchase large quantities.

First Step is also offering plant tags for each of the varieties in the vegetative liner program. Tags will be shipped in a separate box along with liners and feature a simple, eye-catching design that includes breeder logos.
