Free CEA Lighting Webinar Available On Demand
If you are, then you will want to check out GPN’s latest webinar on CEA lighting that took place in October.
On Oct. 25, Neil Mattson, associate professor at Cornell University, presented a one-hour webinar on “Lighting Decisions for CEA — Turning Photos into Dollars.”
While lighting can be among the most expensive greenhouse costs, supplemental lights can lead to higher yield and crop quality helping you to make more money. Lighting requirements for common vegetable crops and sizing your lighting system for a given application will be covered.
During the webinar, Mattson presents examples of upfront cost and operating cost comparing LEDs to traditional HID fixtures. He also will discuss how the way you control lights (time clock, light threshold, daily light integral targets) can substantially impact crop quality and cost of lighting.
In addition to his teaching, research and extension work at Cornell, Mattson is the director of the university’s Controlled Environment Agriculture group and also one of the principals of the Greenhouse Lighting and Systems Engineering (GLASE) consortium. The consortium is working to develop advanced greenhouse lighting and control systems that are tailored to the needs of specific greenhouse and indoors cultivated crops.
