GPN To Host Cannabis & Hemp Week

GPN—Greenhouse Product News will host its first Cannabis & Hemp Week from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24, featuring three 1-hour interactive webcasts with industry experts addressing the latest issues facing growers today. The webcast series is interactive and designed to provide growers with the latest insight, production tips and guidelines to grow successfully.

Presentations include:

Allison JusticeGrowing Cannabis & Hemp — Allison Justice, co-founder of SC Botanicals and The Hemp Mine. Taxonomically marijuana and hemp are very similar, but production considerations can be very different for a business. In this webinar we will discuss the similarities and differences between marijuana and hemp production. A wide range of topics will be covered including genetic selection, the supply chain, cultivation methods, IPM and post harvest handling (drying/curing).

Allison Justice graduated from Clemson University with a Ph.D. in Plant and Environmental Science. Through research and education, she is elevating the standards of cannabis and hemp cultivation both indoors/greenhouse and in the field. She has been a member of the California Industrial Hemp Advisory Board helping to advise policy and regulation for the California Industrial Hemp Program. In 2017 Justice was named one of the top “40 Under 40 in Cannabis” by Marijuana Venture Magazine and one of Dope Magazine’s Four Dope Women.

Krystal SnyderThe Nuts and Bolts of Plant Nutrition — Krystal Snyder, educator at Penn State University Extension. Plant nutrition can be scary and there are lots of choices out there. Selecting the right fertilizer based on water type, feeding schedules for young plants, growing on (indoors and out) and stock plants is critical. This webinar will look at how to monitor nutrition in s and how your choices can affect overall plant health.

Krystal Snyder is a Horticulture Extension educator based in northeast Pennsylvania focusing on greenhouse floriculture, hydroponics, green industry and industrial hemp. She joined Penn State Extension in 2019. Before joining Penn State Extension, Krystal worked as a technical specialist and was an adjunct professor at Delaware Valley University.

Tales From the Greenhouse and the Field — Join us for this panel discussion of experienced growers as they discuss the real world of growing cannabis and hemp both indoors and outside. Learn about the everyday issues that these growers face and how they deal with them to grow healthy and profitable hemp and cannabis crops.
