Tessenderlo Kerley Hanford manufacturing plant recognized with Cal/OSHA’s highest safety designation

Tessenderlo Kerley’s manufacturing facility in Hanford, California, has earned Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) STAR status from the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), the agency’s highest recognition for workplace safety and health performance. 

The VPP STAR designation is awarded to organizations that demonstrate comprehensive safety and health management systems while maintaining injury and illness rates below industry averages. According to the company, the recognition reflects the Hanford facility’s focus on employee engagement, proactive safety management and continuous improvement.

“The team’s dedication, professionalism, and collaborative approach were critical to achieving this recognition,” said Keya Litt, HSE senior manager. “Their commitment to a safety-first mindset exemplifies the highest standards across our organization.”

Alex Dimitriadis, senior vice president of operations, said the recognition reflected employees’ commitment to workplace safety and the company’s goal of ensuring workers return home safely each day.

The designation places the Hanford facility among organizations recognized through Cal/OSHA’s voluntary safety program. Tessenderlo Kerley said it plans to continue investing in safety programs, employee training and partnerships that support workplace safety across its operations.

Based in Phoenix, Tessenderlo Kerley produces crop nutrition, crop protection and specialty chemical products for agriculture, mining, water treatment and industrial markets. The company operates 14 manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and one in Canada.
