Make Your Voice Heard During Congressional Action Days

What can the industry do to ensure Congress hears their concerns loud and clear? According to the Society of American Florists (SAF), one way to achieve this is by attending Congressional Action Days 2008, taking place Feb. 25-27 at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, D.C., and using their collective voice to make legislators pay attention to key issues impacting their businesses.

SAF encourages all members to sign up now, before the hectic holiday season, so that the organization can start setting up appointments with attendees and members of Congress and staff.

“Nothing resonates with Congress like seeing hundreds of constituents speaking with one voice as they go from office to office in a single day,” states SAF Government Relations Chairman Kevin Priest of Cleveland Plant & Flower Company in Parma, Ohio, in a press release. “It really turns up the volume and makes them take notice, which is exactly what you need to keep your issues on the table in an election year.”

Brad Fitch, a former Hill staff member and professionally lobbyist trainer, will coach attendees on how to tell their personal stories effectively and make their concerns stand out. In addition, a new Congressional insight interactive session will further help attendees communicate clearly with lawmakers.

Congressional Action Days will also feature veteran journalist Chris Wallace, host of the Sunday morning public-affairs program Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace, who has interviewed some of today’s most powerful politicians, including all of the leading contenders for the 2008 presidential campaign. He will share his unique political insights at the kickoff breakfast on Monday, Feb. 25.
