OFA CEO John Holmes Dies
John R. Holmes, 45, chief executive officer of OFA — an Association of Horticulture Professionals — died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Feb. 12, in Columbus, Ohio.
“We are deeply saddened by John’s sudden passing. He was a great friend and a remarkable leader. The association is stronger because of his efforts,” said OFA President Bobby Barnitz. “Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family, friends and beloved staff during this difficult time.”
“While John’s presence will be missed, your board of directors is committed to ensuring the organization continues to meet the needs of our stakeholders and management partners,” Barnitz said. “John made sure the organization had a strong infrastructure in place to survive challenging times.”
John received his B.A. in Political Science from Purdue University and a law degree from Indiana University. Licensed to practice law in Indiana, John was certified in association management by both the American Society of Association Executives and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Arrangements are still pending. Information will be posted at www.ofa.org as it becomes available.
