All-America Selections Announces 2010 WinnersSource: All-America Selections

All-America Selections not only announced its 2010 Winners, but they have also announced brand new timing for this and future years winners. Effective immediately, these winners are now available for sale to all distribution channels, from breeder to grower to retailer to consumer.

On to the winners! This year’s awards go to:

Echinacea purpurea ‘PowWow Wild Berry’ (PanAmerican Seed). This variety boasts a unique deep rose-purple flower color and large 3- to 4-inch flowers that retain color longer. This first-year flowering perennial is sown by Jan. 25 and is hardy to Zone 3. It reaches a height of 20-24 inches.

Marigold F1 African ‘Moonsong Deep Orange’ (Syngenta Flowers). This vigorous plant reaches 12-15 inches tall and flowers in about 70 days under short days. It features intense deep-orange flower color and large fade-resistant flowers with fully double blooms.

Zinnia ‘Double Zahara Cherry’ (PanAmerican Seed). Great for container gardening, this variety is early to bloom in about eight to 10 weeks. It has a dependable resistance to leaf spot and mildew diseases. The plant matures at about 12 inches tall and is a heat-tolerant sun-loving annual.

Zinnia ‘Double Zahara Fire’ (PanAmerican Seed). This heat-tolerant annual boasts an orange-scarlet flower color. It has fully double blooms and matures at about 12 inches tall. This variety also is early to bloom in about eight to 10 weeks.
