Armitage Adds New Honor to Resume
Not only is retired University of Georgia professor and industry consultant Allan Armitage an expert plantsman, he’s also a pretty good tennis player.
Armitage’s tennis team recently competed in the National Invitational Tournament in Surprise, Arizona. The tournament is sponsored by the United States Tennis Association.
Competing in the 65-and-over age group, Armitage’s team defeated 17 other teams to win their age group and the championship.
“It is crazy what we had to go through to do this,” Armitage said to the Athens Banner-Herald. “Anybody can do anything if they put their mind to it. This age thing, we are old but we hit it pretty well. We managed to bring a national championship home to Georgia, and that is pretty cool.”
