Bachman’s Floral, Home and Garden is celebrating its 140th anniversary on June 14 with events across all retail locations, including its Cedar Acres site and 28 Lunds & Byerlys floral departments.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., customers can enjoy live music, food trucks, giveaways and free birthday treats. The first 140 customers at each Lunds & Byerlys floral location will receive a special gift.

The Minnesota-based business began in 1885 when Henry Bachman Sr. started a vegetable farm in Minneapolis. His son Albert shifted the focus to flowers after successfully selling carnations. Today, Bachman’s remains family-operated with three fifth-generation members: Susan Bachman West, Karen Bachman Thull and Adam Bachman.

“For 140 years, we have been honored to serve Minnesotans throughout all of life’s events,” said Susan Bachman West, CEO and president of Bachman’s. “We are grateful to our customers for welcoming us into their lives over the past 14 decades.”

The company now includes six retail garden centers, a wholesale nursery, landscaping divisions, and a 670-acre growing range in Farmington. Many plants and floral products are grown locally in seven acres of greenhouses.

Bachman’s has continued to adapt to evolving consumer needs while supporting local communities through donations and partnerships. The anniversary celebration reflects the company’s long-standing commitment to service and innovation in Minnesota horticulture.
