Bgreen, a California-based company producing sustainable agriculture products, has introduced RETAIN, an organic fluid designed to clean and maintain pruning tools. The product is available through Amazon and Walmart.com.

According to the company, pruning tools often lose effectiveness when blades accumulate sap, grime or rust, which can also increase the risk of spreading plant diseases. RETAIN is formulated as a single spray that cleans, sanitizes, lubricates and helps prevent corrosion.

The product is certified organic by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Independent lab testing found that RETAIN prevented disease transfer on tools and performed comparably to bleach without causing blade damage.

“Growers told us they were tired of juggling several products to keep pruning tools clean and safe,” said Bruce Thomas, CEO of Bgreen Inc. “We created RETAIN so anyone from home gardeners to professional growers can protect their tools and plants with a single, effective, and organic solution.”

For commercial greenhouse growers and nursery operators, tool sanitation is a key part of limiting disease spread between crops. A single-step organic option may offer a streamlined approach for crews moving between production zones or high-value plants.

The company is providing demonstrations and additional information through its website.
