BioWorks Invests in the FutureSource: BioWorks

BioWorks recently announced that Amy Hinkle of Belle Center, Ohio, has been selected as the winner of the American Floral Endowment’s BioWorks IPM/Sustainable Practices Scholarship. She was chosen among a group of students evaluated based on their academic performance and a minimum GPA of 3.0.

Hinkle attends Penn State University, hoping to graduate in 2012, with a major in horticulture science and a minor in agribusiness management. Her interests lie in floriculture, greenhouse management and retail horticulture. This summer, Hinkle is working at Bear Creek Farms in Stillwater, Okla., where she cares for more than 10 acres of cut flowers. She also is working with an on-site entomologist, taking an IPM approach in the greenhouse and field production of cut flowers. After college, she hopes to own a retail business that focuses on providing high quality horticulture products to consumers.
