BioWorks has introduced PRINCIPLE WP, a new bioinsecticide formulated with Beauveria bassiana to provide broad-spectrum pest control without resistance buildup. Registered for use in the U.S., PRINCIPLE WP will be available starting June 2.

The product is labeled for control of thrips, aphids, whiteflies, beetles, caterpillars, mealybugs and other common greenhouse and field crop pests. It is approved for use on vegetables, fruits, ornamentals, vines, nursery crops and hemp. Applications include foliar spray, soil drench, dipping and aerial methods.

The formulation offers a 4-hour reentry interval and a 0-day preharvest interval. It is exempt from residue tolerance, which supports marketability for retail-ready plants.

“We are on-site with growers and seeing great control with PRINCIPLE WP along with the benefits of an improved formulation,” said technical services manager Julie Graesch. “Growers will really appreciate the reduced residue and our technical expertise that is part of the PRINCIPLE WP package.”

In trials, PRINCIPLE WP showed 98% control of western flower thrips and significantly outperformed other B. bassiana products on whitefly nymphs. It demonstrated comparable efficacy to conventional insecticides such as spirotetramat.

Greenhouse and nursery growers using integrated pest management programs may find PRINCIPLE WP useful for its compatibility with chemical and biological inputs. The product is also OMRI-listed, making it suitable for organic production.
