CSQ updates certification standards, opens comment period for cannabis
CSQ, the accredited cannabis safety and quality certification program, announced updated standards April 22 and opened a public comment period for industry stakeholders through May 20.
The revised CSQ Certification Program introduces a level-based system, offering licensed operators greater flexibility to meet business and regulatory needs. Updated audit requirements reflect recent industry trends, research and regulatory shifts for cultivation, manufacturing and extraction.
Changes also include converting the CSQ Dietary Supplement Standard into an addendum. The expanded scope includes requirements for verifying botanical identity, allowing it to complement other CSQ standards.
All CSQ certifications are now accredited following a merger of previously separate programs.
“This updated standard is the result of countless hours of dedication, collaboration and expertise,” said founder Tyler Williams. “CSQ 2.0 is more than just an update – it’s a smarter, stronger framework that raises the bar for product safety and quality assurance.”
Technical director Darwin Millard, who led the overhaul, brings extensive standards development experience through organizations like ASTM International.
CSQ’s standards are built on globally recognized frameworks such as ASTM, ISO, cGMP and HACCP. The goal is to help organizations continuously improve their processes and implement robust quality systems.
