Costa R&D Director Named to AIPH Panel

Following up on its 2016 International Grower of the Year award, Costa Farms announces the appointment of Mike Rimland to serve a three-year term as a judge to the International Association of Horticultural Producers’ (AIPH) International Grower of the Year award panel.

Rimland will work with other top industry experts to select finalists from around the world for this award.

The 2018 International Grower of the Year award will be presented at the IPM fairground on January 23, 2018 in Essen, Germany.

“I’m extremely proud and humbled to represent Costa Farms as a judge for this highly coveted award,” Rimland said. “Having been on the receiving end of the award, I can honestly say nothing compares to winning this award in our industry. It was an uplifting experience for the entire Costa team.”

Along with Jose Costa, Rimland accepted the coveted AIPH International Grower of the Year award in 2016 at IPM Essen in Germany.

A seasoned horticulture veteran, Rimland is considered one of the world’s leading authorities on indoor plant varieties. He brings 40 years of plant hunting, breeding and production experience to the panel.

As director of research and development of the indoor plant division at Costa Farms, Rimland travels the globe looking for new plants and has developed and introduced many patented varieties.

The 2018 AIPH Grower of the Year award process is already underway. Rimland will meet with the other international judges in Taipei this month.
