EHR transitions to 100% employee-owned structure

Horticultural broker EHR has transitioned to an employee-owned company through an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP), effective Oct. 1. This change makes the company 100% employee-owned.

Founded in 1993, EHR provides brokerage and consulting services to retail garden center growers, wholesale greenhouse growers, nurseries and landscapers nationwide. EHR’s new ownership structure aims to support long-term growth by allowing employees to share in the company’s success.

“This is the natural next step in continuing our legacy,” said EHR president and COO Mike Pezzillo.

The company’s leadership includes Pezzillo; Melanie Byrne, senior vice president of operations and plant product manager; and Tim Iott, senior vice president and CFO. Jim Eason will serve as chairman of the board and head of special projects, while Sonney Mosley continues as greenhouse products specialist.

EHR, based in Fort Wright, Kentucky, is a member of AmericanHort and other regional horticulture organizations across the U.S.
