Equinox Growers adopts Philips LED toplighting force
Equinox Growers adopted Philips LED toplighting force to improve leafy greens production in Virginia. Learn about the system and explore its greenhouse applications.
Signify announced that Equinox Growers in Louisa, Virginia, has implemented Philips LED toplighting force in its leafy greens production.
Equinox Growers installed the horticulture lighting system to support year-round production of leafy greens in a controlled environment. According to the company, the LED toplighting system is designed to deliver high light output with energy efficiency and uniform distribution, supporting photosynthesis and consistent crop growth.
“Choosing the Philips brand was an easy decision for us,” said John McMahon, Equinox Growers. “We wanted to partner with a company that is stable, reliable, and offers the highest-quality products and strong support. We needed a partner who would be here not just today, but in one year, five years, and ten years.”

Michael Hanan, sales leader for the North America Philips LED lighting team, said the project demonstrates how lighting technology can support greenhouse production goals.
For greenhouse growers producing leafy greens and herbs, toplighting systems can influence yield consistency, crop timing and energy use. LED fixtures with tailored light spectra are commonly used in high-density crops to manage growth and maintain uniformity across production zones.
Signify reports nearly 20 years of horticulture lighting development and research. Equinox Growers plans to continue scaling operations with the LED system in place.
