Farfard announces that they will be sponsoring the nationally televised “People, Places & Plants,” starring Roger Swain and Paul Tukey, for the 2004/2005 television season, and will continue to do so for the next three years.

“Initial thoughts for sponsorship is viewed at three years, but Fafard treats all of its business relationships as partnerships, and we hope to be here with them for a long, long time,” stated Jim Kenney, product manager for Fafard. Fafard will be used during the show, and will also have an advertisement before and after the show.

Farfard is a producer and supplier of Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss, professional soiless growing mixes, and retail and landscape bark products. According to its Web site, Fafard’s mission is to “provide the professional retail horticultural markets with the highest-quality products, services and technical support. Through teamwork, integrity and reinvestment, we assure that customers receive exceptional value, associates thrive and a mutually beneficial relationship is enjoyed by Fafard and its business partners.”

Originated in 2003, “People, Places & Plants” is the only gardening TV show with the mission to “promote independent garden centers and inform and inspire gardeners.” It is hosted by Paul Tukey, editor of People, Places and Plants magazine, and Roger Swain, host of The Victory Garden for 15 years.

Fafard is hoping the show’s success will act as a vehicle to connect with retail customers. “We feel the enthusiasm, humor and knowledge that Roger Swain and Paul Tukey deliver on each episode is inspiring gardeners to grow better plants. Roger Swain already has used our products on the show prior to us joining. Roger will give us instant credibility to all those who have never tried Fafard before,” affirmed Kenney.

The weekly, 30-minute TV show originated in Maine, where the magazine of the same title has been published for the past nine years. It is broken down into the three segments: people, places and plants. The show is currently shown in 15 television markets around the country.

“We really appreciate the opportunity to partner with the ‘People, Places & Plants’ team,” stated Kenney. “They have a tremendous amount of passion for what they do. They believe that through education, integrity and quality, homeowners will be successful, and independent garden centers will thrive. We believe the same, and it is both rare and exciting when you can share with another group to help bring this message to the masses.”
