First Ohio Facility Gets OK to Start Growing
State regulators have given the green light to Buckeye Relief, a medical marijuana cultivator, so that it can start planting its crop.
The Ohio Department of Commerce awarded a final certificate to the company last Friday after it passed a state inspection. Buckeye Relief is the first large-scale grower to pass inspection and receive its operation certificate, which will allow the company to grow up to 25,000 square feet of marijuana. Buckeye Relief plans to hire 20 to 40 employees at its 60,000-square-foot facility.
The company will begin planting seeds immediately at its cultivation facility in Eastlake, just outside of Cleveland. The first harvest is expected to hit dispensary shelves in January or sooner.
