FL University to Offer Cannabis Program in 2019

Florida Gulf Coast University announced plans to introduce a program focused on cannabis studies beginning in 2019.

“Ours is the only integrated multidisciplinary field,” said Martha Rosenthal, FGCU director of education. “Now I’ll tell you cannabis is the most multidisciplinary field I’ve ever encountered.”

The university’s marijuana class, the first for the school, has received positive feedback from students.

Next year, students will be able to choose a major in an integrated study with a focus on cannabis studies.

The program will consist of general education classes and half a dozen specialized courses in cannabis. The degree will also allow students to build relationships within the legal marijuana industry and potentially secure a career in the industry.
