Guam Becomes First U.S. Territory to Approve Marijuana Legalization

< 1 minute read

Lawmakers in Guam narrowly approved a bill on Wednesday legalizing recreational marijuana. The measure will now land on the desk of Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero, who is expected to sign it into law.

The measure’s passage comes five years after Guam voted to approve medical marijuana and a year after home cultivation of marijuana was legalized.

The legislation would permit adults 21 and older to possess, consume, cultivate and purchase certain amounts of marijuana from licensed retailers.
