IPM Variety Show to Take Place in January

The Tri-State IPM Variety Show will take place in Manchester, Maine, Jan. 7; Durham, New Hampshire, Jan. 8; and Burlington, Vermont,Jan. 9

This year’s workshop program on greenhouse and high tunnel integrated pest management is multi-faceted, with presentations on biological control, disease management and sprayer calibration.

The featured speaker is Brian Spencer, biocontrol specialist from Applied Bio-nomics, Victoria, British Columbia. He will discuss new beneficials that are commercially available and how to use them.

Cheryl Smith, plant pathologist at the University of New Hampshire, will provide step-by-step guidance on how to identify plant diseases, and discuss how to reduce disease problems and improve plant health.

Hands-on demonstrations will be provided on calibrating backpack sprayers and releasing natural enemies to ensure maximize effectiveness.

The grower-to-grower session will give attendees an opportunity to share their IPM successes and failure.

These workshops are for growers with greenhouses or high tunnels, extension specialists and professional pest managers.

Growers of all experience levels and from any state are welcome to attend any location.
