Make a difference on the AmericanHort Board

The AmericanHort Board of Directors announces the application period for the 2024 Board of Directors nominations is now open. Eligible AmericanHort members are invited to submit their applications by the deadline of Feb. 16, 2024, to be considered for nomination in the upcoming board of directors’ election. The application can be accessed at americanhort.org/boardapply, with elections scheduled to take place throughout the month of March.

Dedicated to uniting, promoting, and advancing the horticulture industry, AmericanHort seeks individuals who can contribute strategically to meet the evolving needs of the industry. Ken Fisher, CEO & president of AmericanHort, expresses the organization’s eagerness to welcome industry professionals dedicated to shaping the future. “We value the commitment of those who volunteer their time to help steer AmericanHort towards continued success,” said Fisher.

AmericanHort supports a diverse community of over 21,000 members and affiliated businesses, encompassing breeders, greenhouse and nursery growers, garden retailers, distributors, landscape professionals, florists, educators, researchers, manufacturers, and all stakeholders across the industry market chain.

Rob Lando, serving as the current board chairman, shares his pride in the association’s work. “Serving on the AmericanHort board of directors is not just a responsibility; it’s a rewarding opportunity to give back to the industry and make a positive impact,” Lando notes.

The nominating committee includes Rob Lando, board chairman, Ed Overdevest, board vice chairman; Jon Reelhorn, Belmont Nursery, immediate past chairman; and J. Harvey Cotten Jr., board treasurer.

Current board members include Derek Clark, South Central Growers; Matt Edmundson, Arbor Valley Nursery; Kent Fullmer, Fullmer’s Landscaping; Brian Lloyd, Olson’s Greenhouse; Steve Mostardi, Mostardi Nursery; Lyndsi Oestmann, Loma Vista Nursery; Emily Showalter, Willoway Nurseries, and Ann Tosovsky, Home Nursery Inc.

The announcement of new board members is scheduled for spring, with their official induction during the association’s state of the industry keynote on Sunday, July 14, at Cultivate’24. Cultivate’24 is AmericanHort’s premier trade show and conference, hosted in Columbus, Ohio.
