Pantone Picks Living Coral as Color of the Year for ’19

The color experts at Pantone have selected Living Coral as the Color of the Year for 2019.

Each December for the past 20 years Pantone has picked a color that we can expect to see more of in the coming year. In 2017, Greenery reigned supreme; for 2018, it was Ultra Violet; and now we know that 2019 is Living Coral, “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.”

That’s the description from Pantone of 16-1546 Living Coral, “symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits [it] embodies our desire for playful expression.”

“Color enhances and influences the way we experience life,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “As a shade that affirms life through a dual role of energizing and nourishing, PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral reinforces how colors can embody our collective experience and reflect what is taking place in our global culture at a moment in time.”
