Pohmer Named Floral Marketer of the YearSource: Produce Marketing Association

On Sunday, November 6, 2005, Stan Pohmer, a GPN columnist, received the 2005 Floral Marketer of the Year Award during the breakfast general session at the Produce Marketing Association’s (PMA) 2005 Fresh Summit International Convention and Exposition in Atlanta, Ga. This marks the 25th annual presentation of the award recognizing an outstanding individual who has served the mass-market floral industry with dedication and distinction.

Award presenter Pat Bauer of Temkin International, Inc., describes Pohmer’s floral industry contributions in this way, “Pohmer was the first retailer to coordinate efforts between a major retailer and local greenhouse growers on a nationwide level. This innovative joint-effort model is now used nationwide.”

PMA President Bryan Silbermann states, “Pohmer has served in leadership positions in several trade associations including as chairman of PMA’s floral division board. He is truly an industry leader who is well deserving of this recognition.”

Pohmer is founder and CEO of Pohmer Consulting Group, a consultancy focused on floral, lawn and garden, horticulture, and other perishable and seasonal industries.
