Rancho Tissue Debuts Four New Varieties
New from Rancho’s breeding program are two Aloe hybrids, ‘Christmas Carol’ PPAF and ‘Sunset’ PPAF, and two Agaves, A. hybrid ‘Blue Emperor’ and A. parrasana ‘Globe’ (pictured at left). All four are hardy to Zones 8 to 11.
“From our own in-house breeding, we’ve carefully selected each of these for their unique characteristics and striking colors,” says Heather May, founder and owner. “Like all RTT varieties, they’re produced from tissue culture for outstanding consistency and uniformity.”
Aloe hybrid ‘Christmas Carol’ PPAF is a small, colorful plant trimmed in bright red with deep green leaves speckled with vibrant dark red spots along the centers. It’s best for 4- to 6-inch pots indoors or outdoors.
Aloe hybrid ‘Sunset’ PPAF comes from breeder Kelly Griffin, boasting bright red leaf margins that offset deep green foliage. Perfect for indoor pot use or outside containers, plants grow to about a foot tall.
Agave parrasana ‘Globe’ is incredibly water wise and cold hardy, with beautiful blue color and striking foliage shape. ‘Globe’ prefers full sun and grows to about 2 feet tall, perfect potted or in the landscape.
