The Society of American Florists (SAF) has introduced the New Industry Entrants Resource Package, a toolkit designed to help individuals beginning or expanding their careers in the floral industry.

The package provides essential knowledge and practical tools covering the floral supply chain, sustainability practices, consumer behavior and professional development opportunities. It aims to simplify entry into the industry, which encompasses growers, wholesalers, retailers and designers connected through a complex global network.

“These tools are designed for anyone entering or even expanding their role in the floral industry,” said Kate Delaney, SAF’s director of education. “By providing floral professionals with knowledge and resources early on in their careers, we’re helping individuals succeed, businesses retain talent and the industry as a whole grow stronger.”

The New Industry Entrants Resource Package includes four key components:

  • Industry Basics: A 30-minute overview of the floral industry, sustainability and research on the benefits of flowers.

  • Challenges & Opportunities: Data on consumer trends and forecasts to encourage strategic planning.

  • Working in the Industry: Guidance on skills, shop expectations and seasonal work patterns.

  • Practical Tools & Networking: Access to SAF webinars, education resources and its Floral Education Hub.

The toolkit is available to both members and nonmembers on SAF’s website and will be updated regularly with new information and training materials.
