Seed Your Future releases horticulture internship workforce report
Seed Your Future has released a new Internship Research Report and Employer Resource Toolkit aimed at helping horticulture employers strengthen internship programs and address workforce shortages.
The report outlines internship trends, compensation benchmarks, program structures and student expectations across the horticulture industry. The findings are intended to help employers, including greenhouse and nursery operations, develop programs that attract early-career talent.

Internships are increasingly viewed as a key strategy for recruiting and retaining workers in horticulture sectors that continue to face labor challenges. The report provides data and recommendations for structuring internship experiences and improving recruitment and retention efforts.
“Our industry cannot thrive without intentional investment in the next generation,” said Jazmin Albarran, executive director of Seed Your Future.
The 11-page report also includes student perspectives on internships and guidance for employers seeking to improve program effectiveness. An accompanying webinar recording is available with the report.
The organization said the resources are designed to support workforce development across horticulture sectors including greenhouse production, nursery operations and related plant industries.
The report and webinar are available free to the industry. Additional employer worksheets and planning tools can be accessed through a donation that supports Seed Your Future’s workforce development efforts.
Seed Your Future works to increase awareness of horticulture careers and expand resources for students, educators and employers.
