Sormac acquires german food technology firm

Sormac, a supplier of machines and turnkey solutions for fresh-cut produce, has acquired a majority stake in German manufacturer Foodcons, established in 2004. Foodcons, which has served as the official distributor of Sormac equipment in Germany and Austria, will be absorbed into Sormac GmbH later this year.

The move expands Sormac’s product portfolio by integrating Foodcons’ machinery solutions with its own offerings. The change is expected to improve production efficiency and service for customers, including horticulture and greenhouse growers who rely on advanced processing technology for fresh-cut fruit and vegetables.

“We believe that this change will lead to improved production efficiency, a symbiosis of our engineering efforts and most importantly, an improved service for our existing and new customers,” Elena Haffmans, director business innovations at Sormac, said.

Sormac, headquartered in Venlo with sales and service centers in the US and UK, aims to enhance its global reach with the new German operations. The acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy to strengthen its presence in Germany and Austria while optimizing production capabilities and service delivery.
