Syngenta uses ATLAS robot to improve tank-mix testing and customer support
Syngenta introduced its ATLAS automation robot to accelerate tank-mix compatibility testing and improve product development and troubleshooting.
Syngenta introduced its proprietary Application Technology Laboratory Automation System (ATLAS), an automated testing platform designed to speed tank-mix compatibility testing while improving consistency and accuracy in product development and customer support.
According to the company, ATLAS processes 500 to 600 tank-mix combinations each month, work that could take as long as six months to complete manually. The system automates sample preparation, mixture imaging and sample analysis, reducing variability associated with manual testing and producing repeatable results that support product development, stewardship and technical recommendations.
Carson Cashwell, market manager for ornamentals at Syngenta, said the automated process provides customers with objective information to help guide application decisions.
In addition to pre-launch testing, the company said ATLAS is used to investigate customer-reported tank-mix issues that are difficult to reproduce. Using customer-supplied water sources or adjuvants, the system can recreate field conditions and evaluate issues such as sedimentation, nozzle plugging and mixing order. Syngenta said the testing also contributes to a historical database that supports future troubleshooting.
