Taylor Farms has acquired Equinox Growers, a large-scale leafy greens greenhouse in Louisa, Virginia, from Generate Capital, expanding its presence in controlled-environment agriculture.

The facility, described as the largest commercial greenhouse in the Mid-Atlantic, produces a range of leafy greens using controlled-environment systems. The Equinox Growers team will continue managing operations while integrating into Taylor Farms’ product portfolio and distribution network.

For greenhouse growers, the acquisition reflects continued investment in CEA production as demand grows for year-round, locally produced greens. The combined scale of the Virginia greenhouse and Taylor Farms’ cold-chain logistics is expected to improve product availability and reduce transit time to Eastern U.S. markets.

“Retailers and consumers alike are increasingly seeking long-term, reliable access to greenhouse grown produce,” said T. Bruce Taylor, senior vice president of marketing and product at Taylor Farms. “We’re taking a major step forward into controlled-environment agriculture as this acquisition allows us to continue diversifying our raw product supply—both in geography and growing method—while meeting the rising demand for high-quality greenhouse-grown salads.”

The CEA lettuce segment continues to expand, with the company citing approximately 25% year-over-year growth. The move positions Taylor Farms to scale greenhouse production and strengthen supply consistency as market demand increases.
