2 minute read
The signing of the Illinois hemp bill has provided opportunities for the cultivation, distribution and processing of hemp for fiber, grain and CBD. Learn more about the options available in legal hemp production during a pair of workshops being hosted by the University of Illinois Extension on Dec. 19 and Dec. 20.

Phillip Alberti - University of Illinois Extension

Phillip Alberti, University of Illinois Extension educator.

The Dec. 19 workshop will be held at the Illinois Extension offices in Elizabeth, 204 Vine St., and on Dec. 20 in Rockford, 1040 N. Second St. The workshops run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The cost will be $10 per person.

University of Illinois Extension Educator Phillip Alberti will be discussing industrial hemp and how farmers looking for an alternative crop that takes up a small acreage might consider growing industrial hemp as a short term cash crop. Topics include:

  • types of hemp
  • production systems
  • licensing
  • rules and regulations
  • end products
  • update on hemp in Illinois
This workshop will discuss grain and fiber production but will set particular emphasis on CBD production. Demonstrations of various production methods will be shown while addressing issues faced throughout the growing season.
