UNH to Host Poinsettia Open House

The Macfarlane Greenhouses, located at the University of New Hampshire (UNH), will host the 9th annual Poinsettia Trials Open House Dec. 4 through Dec. 6. The open house will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thurs. and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fri. and Sat. The purpose of the trials is to bring research to breeders, growers and the public. The free event will display more than 100 poinsettia varieties, with variegations of red, white and pink shades. A selection of the poinsettias will be available for purchase throughout the open house and the holiday season. Visitors have the opportunity to assist in ongoing research by recording their favorites from the new and different poinsettia varieties. The completion of the survey will enter visitors in a drawing for a free poinsettia. While on campus, visitors may also view a 12-foot poinsettia tree and the Evergreen Fair.
