USDA Releases 2016 Plant Protection and Quarantine Report
The USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has released its 2016 Annual Report on Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ), outlining accomplishments from throughout the year.
On the world stage, PPQ sustained and expanded U.S. export markets by resolving plant health barriers to trade, according to the agency. PPQ reached critical plant health agreements bilaterally and through international and regional standard-setting organizations to keep global trade safe, fair and predictable, the agency reports. Together with its cooperators, PPQ issued more than 650,000 certificates to support U.S. agricultural exports valued at $134.8 billion in 2016.
These results and more are reflected in the pages of the 2016 Annual Report. For a quick look at what PPQ accomplished in 2016, check out the agency’s 2016 At-a-Glance infographic.
