Buck Takes Reins of PLANET’s Student Career DaysSource: PLANET

In 1999, Jenn Buck completed the Professional Landcare Network’s Student Career Days event at the University of Kentucky as part of Virginia Tech’s team. She had no idea that eight years later, she would be running the event. She finished in the top 20 in the Annual and Perennial Identification event and secured a summer internship with Chapel Valley Landscape in Woodbine, Md.

“One of the best parts of Student Career Days is that I saw for the first time how many students were studying what I was studying,” explained Buck. “At Student Career Days, I was able to network with hundreds of other students and with landscape and lawn care professionals who increased my awareness of the industry as a viable career.”

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Buck continued participating in Student Career Days as part of Chapel Valley Landscape’s recruitment team. In 2006, Buck agreed to co-chair PLANET’s Student Career Days at Brigham Young University and agreed in 2007 to step in as organizer of the event.

PLANET’s 31st Annual Student Career Days takes place at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., March 29-April 1. For additional information, visit www.studentcareerdays.org.
