AmericanHort launches greenhouse grower certification

AmericanHort has introduced the Greenhouse Section Grower Certification, an online program designed to enhance greenhouse production skills. The certification is aimed at technicians, new growers, and greenhouse employees seeking to improve their knowledge and workflow efficiency.

The program consists of three modules: substrate, nutrition and growth management; pest, disease and water quality management; and comprehensive greenhouse operations. It is self-paced and includes video demonstrations, practical applications and assessments.

“The Section Grower Certification teaches employees the ‘why’ behind greenhouse decisions. By understanding how daily tasks impact the bottom line, growers can develop critical thinking skills to help them work smarter, leading to fewer mistakes, better problem-solving, and long-term success,” said AmericanHort president and CEO Ken Fisher.

To earn certification, participants must complete 15 courses and pass a final exam. The certification is valid for two years and can be renewed through continuing education credits.

This is the second certification in AmericanHort’s online training series, following the launch of the Greenhouse Technician Certification in 2023.
