BioWorks adds insecticide and herbicide products for greenhouse, nursery growers
BioWorks introduced BioNex insecticide and Hoplite herbicide products for greenhouse and nursery crop protection systems.
BioWorks introduced two new crop protection products, BioNex and Hoplite, expanding its biological-based portfolio for greenhouse and nursery growers.
BioNex is a contact insecticide and miticide formulated with pyrethrins and canola oil. The product is designed for use in greenhouse, shadehouse, nursery and hoophouse production systems and targets pests including aphids, mites, whiteflies, thrips and mealybugs. According to BioWorks, trial data showed BioNex achieved 98% control of cotton aphids on hibiscus one day after treatment, compared to 78% for a competing product. In another greenhouse trial, the product achieved 97% control of two-spotted spider mites on green beans after two days, compared to 42.5% for a competing product.
Hoplite is a herbicide formulated with potassium salts of fatty acids for control of liverwort, moss, algae and lichens in controlled environment agriculture systems. In a moss control trial, Hoplite achieved 97.5% control five days after treatment, compared to 80% for a competing product, according to the company. A separate bentgrass greens trial showed a 53% increase in control of silvery thread moss compared to a competing product.
“Adding BioNex and Hoplite to the BioWorks portfolio significantly expands the range of high-performance, sustainable solutions we can deliver to growers,” Chris Rose, general manager at BioWorks, said.
Both products are available through BioWorks distributors in select states.
