CFGA Hands Out Scholarships
The Cincinnati Flower Growers Association (CFGA) recently awarded $1,000 dollar scholarships each to two deserving college students studying horticulture.
The 2018 recipients were:
- Robert Hammond currently employed at Diefenbachers Greenhouse. He is a junior attending the University of Cincinnati studying horticulture
- Peyton Phillips employed at Meadow View Growers. He is a freshman attending The Ohio State University studying plant pathology.
The CFGA is group of wholesale greenhouses, retailers, and other industry organizations that holds several fundraising events throughout the year in order to give out these scholarships.
Applications from students are taken throughout the year and two are selected by committee based on their merits. Applicants must be enrolled in horticulture or related fields.
The scholarships are awarded in September, at the annual meeting at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens.
