Cultilene earns RHP certification for stone wool propagation plugs
Cultilene has become the first company to receive RHP certification for stone wool plugs used in crop propagation.
Cultilene has received RHP Horticulture certification for its stone wool plugs used in crop propagation, becoming the first company to achieve RHP certification for stone wool plugs.
The certification follows research and inspections conducted by the certification body, which determined the company met the requirements outlined in the RHP Product Certification Scheme. Cultilene previously held RHP certification for stone wool products and has now expanded that certification to its propagation plugs.

According to RHP, certified plugs must meet quality requirements related to volume, dimensions, rootability, water buffering capacity, water uptake rate and nutritional characteristics. Standards also emphasize product uniformity and include requirements covering the absence of heavy metals, radioactivity, harmful substances, weed seeds, and plant and human pathogens.
“The RHP certification confirms that our stone wool plugs meet independently established quality requirements,” Murat Bogutekin, quality manager at Saint-Gobain Cultilene, said. “We are proud that this has now also been confirmed for our stone wool plugs.”
RHP said measurement methods used for volume and dimensions have also been developed for the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and European legislation. The organization continues to develop and expand standards in cooperation with producers and users.
