GPN to Host Cannabis Conference in Columbus
Greenhouse Product News (GPN) will host a Cannabis and Hemp Conference in Columbus, Ohio, on July 13. The conference will feature a full-day educational experience providing the latest insight, tips and guidelines for success in the cannabis market.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees will learn about and discuss cultivation, production guidelines, plant health and greenhouse technology.
Planning a Cultivation Facility: Al Sray, Nexus Greenhouses, will share how to avoid many of the pitfalls and make the process go smoothly. This session will cover establishing a practical timeline, site selection, local code compliance, design and build requirements (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and the actual physical buildout and construction.
Cannabis Growing Techniques: Tucker Cole, Grassroosts Cannabis, will examine how the different growing techniques can impact plant development all the way from production of the mother stock through propagation and intro production and harvest.
Production Considerations for Industrial Hemp: Allison Justice, SC Botanicals, will provide a broad overview of what is involved in growing hemp and the differences and similarities between industrial hemp and other commonly produced crops.
Managing Pests & Diseases: Roger Styer, Styer’s Horticultural Consulting, Inc., will address some of the issues that growers need to be aware of when implementing pest and disease controls in their cultivation facilities.
The conference will wrap up with a panel discussion featuring all speakers and moderated by Jim Barrett of the University of Florida/Barrett Horticultural Consulting.
