Hort Americas now offers organic liquid nitrogen

Hort Americas has partnered with Avé Organics to offer OAN 10-0-0, an organic nitrogen fertilizer designed for immediate plant uptake and sustainable use in organic and hydroponic operations.

OAN 10-0-0 delivers a 100% plant-available source of nitrogen in a ready-to-use liquid formulation. The product is OMRI-listed, LGMA compliant and pathogen-free. It contains no phosphorus or potassium and is designed for use in fertigation, banded, broadcast or foliar applications.

The fertilizer uses a 50/50 blend of nitrate and ammonium nitrogen, avoiding the slow mineralization process associated with most organic fertilizers. The product is produced using the VARCOR system, which recovers and converts ammonia from digestate into a concentrated organic nitrogen solution. The system uses 90% less energy than conventional drying methods and has a greenhouse-gas-negative footprint.

“OAN 10-0-0 is the next step in creating sustainable and productive organic systems,” said Chris Higgins, president of Hort Americas. “It gives growers the immediate uptake of nitrate nitrogen and the lasting benefits of ammonium nitrogen.”

Additional benefits include a low odor, minimal solids, no salt content, and reduced risk of clogged drip systems. Lab-tested batches ensure consistency and eliminate the need for raw manure applications.

OAN 10-0-0 is now available from Hort Americas in 270-gallon totes, offering growers an efficient, sustainable solution to nitrogen delivery.
