HRI opens 2026 grant proposals

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) is now accepting research grant proposals for fiscal year 2026, supporting projects that advance the green industry.

HRI funds research on plant health, pest management, consumer behavior, production efficiencies and the benefits of plants. The program seeks projects that offer practical solutions to industry challenges.

“Research funded by HRI is pivotal to addressing the critical issues facing our industry today,” said Jennifer Gray, administrator of HRI. “We encourage the brightest research minds to apply and partner with us in creating dynamic solutions that not only improve our business operations but also foster the growth of the environmental horticulture industry.”

HRI’s research priorities include quantifying the environmental, economic and health benefits of plants, developing innovative solutions for efficiency and productivity, analyzing consumer behavior and improving pest and disease management.

Researchers and institutions must submit proposals by May 31. Application details are available on HRI’s website.

Since its founding in 1962, HRI has provided more than $10 million in funding for industry research.
